Our mission is to provide a Culturally sensitive therapy service for individuals in need of emotional support for their mental health, by providing affordable online Counselling and Psychotherapy, where individuals may not have access to affordable therapy locally. We aim for all counsellors to work with black and Asian clients – that may continue to feel unsupported and battle through the current inequalities in access, experience, and outcomes of mental healthcare.
About You Counselling & Psychotherapy (AYC&P) provides Integrative therapy from various orientations, including Coaching and CBT.
We are currently working remotely to ensure the safety of our customers, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
We work with anyone and everyone. We support children, young people, adults and couples.
Anyone who feels:
-They are facing emotional and psychological distress.
-They want to improve and maintain their mental health to enhance their wellbeing.
-They are stuck and want to explore what it could be, in a non-bias and non-judgemental environment.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a ‘talking therapy’, or in other words a conversation between a counsellor and a client. At About You Counselling & Psychotherapy, you and the counsellor will communicate remotely, for 50 minutes, to work through issues which are causing you concern. We offer short-term and open-ended counselling to meet your needs and budget.
How does therapy at AYCP help?
Counselling is different from other kinds of support. Counselling aims to facilitate self-awareness, understanding, healing without fear of bias, judgement, or attempt to tell you what to do. Essentially, the counsellor’s task is to bring knowledge from theory, a trained ear making them a skilled listener to you and your problems, in order to help you to discover a more about yourself.
In this experience, those that undergo therapy may experience more awareness of their strengths, weaknesses, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, values, behaviour, behaviour of others and priorities. In bringing this to the forefront of therapy, the therapist can support you explore your own solutions and carry out your own resolutions. Due to the nature of what comes up for some people, some experiences and topics are quite sensitive. However if we are willing to take the risk and embark on, receiving counselling and reap the benefits, it will provide deeper understanding of ourselves and enriches our lives with more meaning.
It is a rewarding personal experience made through collaboration which requires commitment of time and effort on both sides.
